On the Track of Forest

How much is the God of the sacred Niyamgiri mountain worth in money? Is there only one full-grown tree to be found in Finland? Who gets to decide about the forest management practises?

Metsän jäljillä (On the track of forest), published in 2009, contemplates what forest is besides raw materials or a variety of animal and plant species. For many, forests are the source of livelihood and way of life. There may be spirits and ancestors dwelling in forests, as well. The book traces multiple meanings of forests and maps possibilities to maintain and create sustainable relationships with forest.
