Apart from supporting the projects by Southern CSOs, Siemenpuu’s task is to promote environmental protection and human rights, and advance people’s participation and cooperation between civic movements.
Siemenpuu Foundation was founded along its sister organisations – Abilis Foundation and KIOS Foundation – in 1998. Since 2002, Siemenpuu has funded over 650 projects in over 50 countries.
Siemenpuu’s founding organisations select annually the foundation’s Executive Board, which is responsible for the operation and funding decisions of Siemenpuu. Volunteers and staff meet in the thematic groups.
