Siemenpuu’s mission is to support the work of civil society movements in the Global South advocating for sustainable lifestyles, environmental justice, and local communities’ rights.
Siemenpuu Foundation’s development cooperation programme 2022-2025 aims to improve rural communities’ equal opportunities to develop sustainable livelihoods and participate in the decision-making regarding their environment.
Supported projects are identified through calls for project proposals. Siemenpuu does not accept applications outside the published application rounds.
Siemenpuu provides funds to projects planned and carried out by civil society actors in the South. Altogether, Siemenpuu has funded over 650 environmental projects. See the list of current projects by funding themes.
In Siemenpuu-supported projects in 2018-2021, livelihoods rights and improvement were provided to over 120,000 low-income people, and over 1.3 M ha of new forest areas were brought under ecologically sustainable regimes.
